Ground Zero Rescue Dogs Receive Grateful Tribute

The Search and Rescue Dogs of 9/11 were honored at a moving ceremony on the tenth anniversary of the WTC attack.

When the towers came down on September 11, 2001, Search and Rescue dog/handler teams from all over the country rushed to the aid of victims.  Day after horrific day the dogs were sent into the most treacherous places with only one goal – to save lives.

Their heroic service did not end when they took a rest from their work in the rubble.  They gave comfort to first responders by their mere presence.  The work of these dogs can not be duplicated or replaced by any science man has devised.

The video shows the fitting tribute to the dogs in 2011.  It is patriotic, beautiful and emotional.

Share so others can be reminded of the contribution of these brave working dogs and their dedicated handlers.

The search and rescue dogs of 9/11 didn’t ask for rewards. They searched the rubble of Ground Zero tirelessly for weeks, saving hundreds of lives.

Ten years after the World Trade Center attack, the search and rescue dog community came together to honor these fearless canines with a ceremony at Liberty Park in New York City.

See the moving parade that paid them tribute in the video.
