Military War Dog Is Awarded Purple Heart

Military War Dog Rocky and his partner, Specialist Brown, are recovering side by side in the same hospital room.

Specialist Brown and his Military War Dog Rocky were sweeping a structure in Afghanistan when an IED  exploded and left both of them injured. They were immediately transported to Germany by the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron.  From there they were sent together to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Rocky was assigned to the same hospital room with his partner and they are recovering side by side.  The incredibly close bond between working military war dog and soldier adds  huge emotional and psychological support for each of them during their recovery.

Military War Dog Rocky has been honored for his bravery and his service to his country with the Purple Heart.

He and his partner SPC Brown are members of the 89th Military Police Brigade in Fort Hood , Texas.

SPC Brown and Rocky are both doing well after being treated for injuries they suffered from an IED blast earlier this week while searching a structure in support of ongoing operations in Afghanistan. They are both very thankful for your thoughts and prayers and are in the process of heading back home. SPC Brown arrived early this morning to Walter Reed where he was met by his waiting family, and Rocky is expected to return to Fort Hood in the coming weeks. Please remember them, as well as all our Soldiers deployed around the world, during the holiday season. Proven in Battle!
