Your Next “Heart Dog” May Have Waited Years For You to Rescue Her

Older dogs often find their way into shelters for no fault of their own.
Family break ups, death and financial problems can leave a beloved family dog homeless. They are passed over for adoption in favor of younger dogs. They are waiting in shelters for the chance to rescue another person.
Sometimes these dogs spend the rest of their lives in a shelter or are euthanized to make room in crowded spaces.
It’s true that these dogs will probably pass on sooner than a younger pet and the new owners will experience the grief of pet loss. Yet adopting a senior dog can bring joy and wonderful memories into someone’s life. It could be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.
November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month.
During November I will share the 15 best reasons to adopt a senior dog.
Reason Number 1: Older dogs have already learned good house manners. They are way past the chewing, nipping, steal-your-socks puppy stage. They have learned boundaries and rules and are ready fit right in to your routine.
